Our investment in Lastlink

Brazil is the third largest country in the world in terms of social media consumption and, according to industry studies, has millions of digital creators, in a sector that generates at least 300,000 direct jobs and, since 2011, has generated more than R$ 30 billion (FGV, 2023) in value.

However, the monetization of this ecosystem still centers around “influencer marketing”, where brands pay for sponsored posts. The problem is that this model is concentrated on major creators: only 1% earn more than R$15,000 a month from advertising, while the vast majority (75%) receive less than R$1,500 a month.

We see the potential of these creators to take advantage of their specialization and audience and start creating educational digital products such as courses, events, books, communities, mentoring, and even specialized software with the support of the right tools.

The great opportunity for professionalization and increased remuneration lies in the creation of digital multiproducts, which bring different sources of revenue to these producers. The creators who are leading this trend earn an average of R$12,000, with 4 or 5 different revenue sources.

To capture this opportunity, Lastlink not only positioned itself as a payment and subscription management fintech (which was the company's original solution), but as a vertical software that empowers the creator, supporting with sales and service, financial management and reporting, and content distribution. In addition, creators can also gamify their fans' journey, creating a collaborative environment with a sense of community.

What impressed us at Lastlink was not just the vision, but the ability to execute to achieve such a relevant scale with little external capital. This comes from a strong execution and product culture, the footprint of founder and CEO Michel Ank, who has a technical profile and a previous entrepreneurial trajectory in the social media sector. He has an inspiring life story, having left the interior of Minas Gerais to be the developer of a critical system for the mining company Vale.

With the new investment, Lastlink has a clear plan to scale its creator base and expand business niches to reach R$1 billion in TPV by 2026.
